Serial killer and rapist Joseph Naso could be the most prolific violent offender of women in the United States. When Naso was finally arrested in 2010, law enforcement found a journal and a list of ten. The journal recorded Naso's memories of sexual assaults dating back to the 1950's. The list of ten is thought to be the ten murders he remembers committing, but only six of the victims are identified.

Known Victims:
The year after his arrest Joseph Naso was charged with the murder of four women who are described on his list of ten. The first is Roxene Roggasch, thought to be the "Girl near Loganitas" on Naso's list. Roxene was 18-years-old when Naso strangled her on January 10, 1977. When her body was found, a pair of nylons were wrapped around her neck, another in around her mouth, a third in her mouth, and she was also wearing a pair. The nylons around her mouth contained DNA from Joe Naso's wife and there was semen present in the nylons she was wearing.

The second was Carmen Colon, "Girl Near Port Costa." 22-year-old Carmen Colon's body was found nude off Carquinez Scenic Highway on August 13, 1978. Law enforcement took nail clippings from Carmen. In 2010, DNA from those clippings was matched to Joe Naso.

His third murder charge was for the death of 38-year-old Pamela Parsons-"Girl from Linda (Yuba County)." Pamela was a local waitress who worked near Cooper Avenue, near where Naso lived at the time. Her body was found nude on September 19, 1993. She had ligature marks on her wrist and neck and a fractured hyoid bone. When Naso was arrested, authorities found pictures of Parsons, including one taped to the top of a news article about her death.

The forth murder charge was for Tracy Tafoya-"Girl from Mrsv. (Cemetery)." Tracy was drugged, raped and strangled. Naso had newspaper clippings about her death and photos of her.

Naso’s List of Ten
Two other victims on the list were identified after his convictions. 56-year-old Shariea Patton, noted as "Lady from 839 Leavenworth," was killed in 1981. Naso managed the building she lived in in the Bay Area before she disappeared. Her body washed ashore near Naval Net Depot near Tiburon, California.

The other victim was Sarah Dylan as known as Renee Shapiro. Dylan was noted as "Girl in Woodland (Near Nevada County)" on Naso's list. Sarah disappeared sometime around a Bob Dylan concert at Warfield Theater.

ASSIGNMENTS

The first assignment is to identify these women in the never before released photos of potential victims of Joseph Naso. Share the photos with friends and family members and on social media. We will post the photos individually on our facebook page, which you could share, but facebook’s algorithm dictates that it will be seen by more of your friends/family if you create your own post. The second part of the assignment is to identify the four remaining women on Naso's list of ten:

"Girl on Mt. Tam"
"Girl From Miami Near Down Peninsula"
"Girl from Berkeley"

For these women, search databases like the Doe Network, NaMUS, and the Charley Project for possible matches.
