Faith Hedgepeth was a 19-year-old student at the University of Chapel Hill North Carolina. She was studying to become a pediatrician, a job she was hoping to bring back to her tribe Haliwa-Saponi. But on September 7th, 2012, Faith dreams to help people was taken from her.

Timeline of Faith's Murder:

The evening before Faith was murdered, she and her roommate Karena Rosario went to the library around 7:30 PM. After studying, the young women return to their apartment at View Apartment Complex on Old Chapel Hill Road before a night out.

Around 1 AM the roommates went to the club The Thrill to meet up with friends. At some point Karena tells Faith she isn't feeling well. The two young women are seen on surveillance camera leaving at 2:06 AM.

Faith drives them home in her Nissan Altima. She gets Karena to bed and then goes to bed herself. About 4:30 AM two men pick Karena up from the apartment. She leaves Faith home alone, asleep and behind an unlocked door.

Karena and reportedly her friend Marisol arrive home around 11 AM on September 7th, 2012. They find Faith dead on the bed with a pool of blood under her head. Karena calls 911:

The Evidence:

Chapel Hill Police Department found a note next to Faith's body. The note read: "I'm not Stupid Bitch Jealous." Her cause of death was ruled blunt force trauma to the head most likely by a Bicardi rum bottle. DNA from semen was taken at the scene. A bloody tampon was found near Faith's body. Her body was cut and bruised.

Police also tracked down a voicemail, mostly likely a butt dial, left by Faith the night of her murder. The voicemail is hard to make out. We played a small portion on the podcast.

An additional resource that authorities employed was a sketch from the DNA left at the scene through Parabon NanoLabs. It by no means is as accurate as a DMV photo, but at least it gives the public a rough idea of who to potentially look for.

This week's assignment is encouraging you to submit your DNA to GED Match.

Also if you have any information about the night Faith was murdered, please contact us. No piece of information is too small.

1. Do not name names publicly. Send everything to the police or to this page and we will forward to the police.
2. Do not post side by side photos--especially with the Parabon sketch.
3. Do not contact any family members.
4. Do not doxx each other and be civil. We all want to the same thing.

As tips come in, Jensen and Holes will work to verify them. If they look good, we will publish them here to try and get us closer to their names.
