Billy and Paul look into the disappearance of 8-year-old Christy Luna in Greenacres, Florida. On May 27th, 1984, she left home to buy cat food at the store just 400 feet away. Then she vanished in thin air. Since that time there have been several promising leads, but none have brought Christy home.

The Disappearance:
On May 26th, 1984, 8-year-old Christy Luna went on a roadtrip with her mom Jennie, her older sister and her mom’s live-in boyfriend Larry Jackson. The family had gone to central Florida and stopped at many different parks on their way home. They got home late that night with Jennie driving most of the way.

The next morning, Jennie put on The Beatles movie Yellow Submarine to entertain her daughters while she laid down after the long drive. After watching the movie, the girls also laid down. The entire family took a nap. Around 2 o’clock or so Christy woke up. She was worried about her cat and the kittens--Boo Boo and Skeeter. She wanted to make sure they had enough food. Christy told her mom she was going to go to the local store.

The store was only about 400 feet from Christy’s front door. But it’s unclear which route Christy took to get to the store. She may have walked directly there, but she also could have walked to her best friend’s house which was just behind hers.

Sometime in between 2:30 and 3 PM on May 27th, the clerk at Belk’s General Store remembered seeing Christy in the store. The four feet tall, brown haired little girl was barefoot and was wearing a turquoise jumpsuit. She’d brought a bag of plastic bottles to trade in and purchased cat food.

Christy movements after buying the cat food are unconfirmed. Some reports said she may have stayed inside the store playing video games until around 6 PM. Others say she left right after and went to a nearby park. But these are not confirmed sightings.

Later that evening, her family woke up from their nap. Jennie realized Christy wasn’t home and began calling her friends. No one had seen her daughter. Around 8:30 PM that evening she reported Christy missing to the Greenacres Police Department.

Persons of Interest:
-The Rambo brothers--Willis and Chuck--lived a couple doors down from Christy. After her disappearance, they were charged with child molestation. The 6-year-old victim was Christy's best friend and had said Christy had been to the Rambo's house with her. Each brother accepted a plea bargain for 10 years of probation. Chuck moved out of state to Tennessee.

Willis Rambo was later charged with sexually assaulting his step-daughter. Based on those counts, he was sentenced to life in prison. He is currently in a Florida prison.

-Larry Jackson was Jennie Luna's boyfriend of seven years. He lived in the home with Christy, her older sister and their mom. After Christy's disappearance, he was accused of sexually assaulting her sister. Ultimately, the accusation was recanted and the charges were dismissed. There was no evidence to tie him to Christy's disappearance.

-Victor George Wonyetye worked for a golf course in the Palm Beach area at the time of Christy's disappearance. He came on law enforcement's radar after Exeter, New Hampshire received a tip that he may have killed Christy and Tammy Lyn Belanger. Wonyetye relocated back to Florida. He was placed on 24 hour surveillance. Palm Beach County Sheriffs caught him looking in minor's windows. He was charged with trespassing and indecent exposure.

Wonyetye went to prison and was released in 2012. He died of natural causes about 8 months after his release. He was never charged with Christy's disappearance.

-William Ferris was a neighbor of Christy's. He was interviewed at the time of her disappearance and claimed not to know her. But authorities later found out his wife babysat Christy's friend. At times, Christy would come over to their house to play. Ferris made several statements that piqued law enforcement's interest. His wife said he told her that one day either Christy or her friend were going to disappear. After Christy vanished, he stated no one would find her and that she was in alligator alley.

Ferris has never been charged in Christy's disappearance.

Christy’s mom Jennie Luna moved away from the area for sometime, but she moved back to Greenacres. Jennie is living at the Broward Avenue home hoping that Christy will return home.

And that’s what we’re hoping to do with this week’s episode. Greenacres Police and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s continue to look for Christy Luna--there is currently a $15,000 reward in the case. No one has been charged with her disappearance. When Christy vanished, she was barefoot wearing a turquoise jumpsuit. She was four feet and 60 pounds. She had brown hair and hazel eyes.
